Outreach

Global Concerns:

Highland Lakes United Methodist Church contributes for causes beyond the local church by way of its annual apportioned funds i.e. a method of giving that proportionally allocates the general church budget to conferences, which subsequently apportion to local churches. Apportioned funds enable United Methodists to do together what no church, district or annual conference can do alone. The seven apportioned finds include:
World Service Fund
Ministerial Education Fund
Africa University Fund
Black College Fund
Interdenominational Cooperation Fund
Episcopal Fund
General Administration Fund

Missions:
Missionary Ray & Lidia Zirkel and Family

Highland Lakes United Methodist Church supports its missionaries, Ray and Lidia Zirkel who are in their eight year of ministry with the United Methodist Church in Costa Rica through a special monthly collection.

Meals on Wheels:

"For when I was hungry, you gave me food." Matthew 25:35-36. The Meals on Wheels program at Highland Lakes United Methodist Church provides for the delivery of hot lunches to the homebound elderly. Substitute drivers are needed for Meals n Wheels to deliver the meals. The MOW program covers an area in Kingsland evey 6 weeks and Buchanan Dam every 2 weeks so the time commitment isn't burdensome but desperately needed. Please volunteer today!

Sharing the Harvest:

The mission of Highland Lakes United Methodist Church's Sharing the Harvest program is to help alleviate hunger by providing nutritious food, personal care items, and social service information to those who need them. Our hope is to sustain, strengthen and educate needy individuals and families within the community. They are always in need of non-perishable food. There is a basket in the Sanctuary lobby for donations. Sharing the Harvest is open every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. only.

Kingsland Hills Care Center Songfest:

Both choir and non-choir members join together each month at 10:15 a.m. to sing for residents of a local care center to bring a little brightness and fun in their lives.

Brotherhood of Joseph:

United Methodist Men reach out to help those unable to repair and maintain their residences or assist in other much needed construction projects throughout the community.

National United Methodist Campers:

A National family camping organization created by United Methodists in Connecticut in 1975 to satisfy the need for camping in a Christian atmosphere where Christians would be welcome and no member of the family would be excluded. www.umcampers.org

Alcoholics Anonymous:

Highland Lakes United Methodist Church provides a meeting place for members of Alcoholics Anonymous three times a week in the Fellowship Hall: Every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:00 noon and on Friday at 8:00 p.m.

Individual Outreach Ministries:

Many of our church members serve their local and broader communities through participation in a multitude of volunteer programs and activities. Members are invited to send information, together with a photograph, of recent honors that may have been bestowed upon them to hklee@highlandlakesumc.org
